Postcard Friendship Friday!

Leather postcard!
Aunt Ida saved it, thank goodness!
March 24, 1907
Absolutely nothing to do with the holidays, but I really thought it was worth showing!!!

Peggy! This is WONDERFUL! Novelty leather postcards were printed between 1904 - 1908. The leather was branded and then tinted. Yee-haw cowboy! The US postal service banned them in 1909 because they kept on jamming newly designed sorting machines! Happy happy PFF girl!

Somewhere at the back of my mind, I think I've heard of leather postcards, but I've certainly never seen one!

Because of the small window for actually mailing these cards, they are VERY collectible.

How fun to see this. I have a wooden postcard, but not a leather one.

What a wonderful keepsake. I can imagine how these would have stuck in machines a posty nightmare.

That is definitely worth saving. Even cooler that it's from Ketchikan before Alaska was a state. Thank you for sharing it.

How funny. I just looked at this now...a little late, but I almost posted a leather card on Friday too. I posted it on Saturday instead.
