I am not a Buddhist, but as I understand Buddhism, the answer to your question would be: There is no next, only now. (Yeah, not very satisfying, I know.)
I agree, sadness does sometimes feel like one is suspended in space. Observing nature, in its ever-changing grandeur, comforts me. Be warm!!
