Those were HATS!!! I miss hats--I always loved the beautiful ones from the 50's that mom had, with the exquisite flowers on them. And trips to Woolworths to buy new flowers when the old silk ones had lived a good life. So I thoroughly enjoy this photo!
Love the fact that you've used your family this week, Peggy! Can you believe those hats? Just imagine the room they took up in those tiny closets!!! Hugs, Terri xoxo
Terrific photo! What fabulous hats they wore. Their clothing looks a bit conservative but I guess they could express some of their personality with their hats. Cheers!
What a treasured family photo! Those hats are amazing. Good thing they didn't have Volkswagens back then!!! I wouldn't want to sit behind them at the opera! Thanks so much for sharing, Peggy!
Hats wuz hats in them thar days. I think wearing such large and frothy hats must have been a lady's way of breaking out from the pinned down attitudes of the times. I love this photo of your grandmother and friend. Their faces say "serious" but their "hats" say "Look out world, here we come".

Gorgeous, Peggy, but don't those hats look awfully heavy!!!
I think it is so precious to use real realatives in your art in stead of "borrowed" ones :D Really a good picture to use for the three muses !

Golly, gee, Peggy!!! Those are hats! What kept those ladies anchored to the ground? I love that you've used your grandmother's picture.
