I love pastel ! I do a painting with the pastels and then go back and add color and details by using water and a brush. I shave the pastels I want to use with an exacto knife into a small palette . Then I dip a brush into water and mixed the "powder" to add more colors. It gives it a nice painterly look.

Love Dawn xx
awesome work!! thanks for sharing how you did it!
I LOVE nasturtiums and these are beautiful! AND, I'm intrigued by this technique- I want to know more; do you add spray fixative between layers? After you add the pastel "paint" do you add more dry pastels or is the wet part the end of the process? I used to only work in pastels- believe it or not, I despised acrylics and wasn't brave enough to try oils....
Your work is lovely and the framing is perfect to showcase it. HAPPY PPF!
What a great technique! This is a wonderful painting.
