I made this creche 15 years ago. I got some cute little bears and big naked bears and dressed them all in felt and washcloths! The 3 wise men are bringing gifts and the camel is carrying them...roses for mary and hannukah candles(jesus was jewish). There are some toys for jesus, and a gingerbread cookie. The sign around the camel's neck reads..."bethlehem or bust", and it is on a star. Angel watches over all!
So, 15 years ago I was into holiday boutiques and used to make little table top decorations! This is a photo of one of those decorations that I hung onto cause I loved it! Well, it is time to pass it on to another family(maybe with young children or grandchildren) to begin "anew"!
The first comment I get re the 3 bears decorating the tree, if you want it say so and include your name and address and after christmas I will mail it to you. You must promise to use it or pass it on to someone who might enjoy it!!!
Here is a photo of a big cookbook I have. I don't use it for cooking, but it is the perfect size and weight for flattening papers if they are damp and curled....art drys perfectly! Just remember to put a piece of waxed paper over your art!
...Until dec 1st to start posting pictures of decorations! I gotta tell you, this is my favorite time of year. I am surrounded by memories of my childhood, my children's childhood and make a nest of things that make me smile and remember stories...oh, so many stories!
Ok, here is my plan! Starting on dec 1st, I will post 1 of my favorite decorations for christmas that I always put up! Some of them I made and some were gifts and some are 43 christmases old! keep watching... peggy(bringing out the boxes)
Getting the jump on christmas! I tried a new technique which is really easy! Clear plastic circle( I got mine from Tap Plastic store), decoupage image of your choice in reverse, glue circle on plastic sbowflake(from Michaels)...done! I like the floating effect! My husband is outside putting tiny white lights on the blue spruce in the backyard...yay! When we first moved here 15 years ago, we planted this tree on the point in the backyard just so we could have a tree to light for the holidays. It was 8 ft tall. It is now 15ft tall! I will have to take a photo and post...it is really glorious, 1000 little lights.
Just posting to see if I remember how to do this.....took me 3 trys on my password to get here! Hope the summer is going well for y'all...it certainly is going FAST!!!! Off to Tahoe for 2 weeks on the 2nd of August . Maybe I can learn more about this blog thing!!! Take care! peggy
