" Brush with death"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michael has a great sense of humor! He said that if you "altered" a brush with a skull, that it could be your "brush with death"...so I made him one!

Who else but an artist would.....

Buy a nitie at target for a worshop!!!! By nick and nora!

OAXACA (wha-ha-ka)

I thought this an appropriate picture for the title!
Yep, Gramps and Grandmommie in mexico a "few years" back! Now, I'm thinkin that gramps likes that pistol while grandmommie has either surrendered or is just not crazy about the gun thing. I can tell you though from my memories of that rascal, gramps, there were probably times when grandmommie could have used that pistol on him!!!!
So I leave sat for a day of the dead workshop with michael de meng. He is a wonderful teacher who encourages your artistic styles and very approachable. In the next few days I'll post a few pictures of some fun stuff I am taking. I keep editing my packing.......Wish it was in the days when you packed a big old trunk and it was waiting in your room when you arrived. Just born too late!

Beginning my illustration!

I found this charming pencil illustration in a book called "Childhood", byJ.H.Dowd(1936) It was a book I inherited from my mom. I made a transparency of the drawing. This image would be the one to use for "A Perfect Day". I am using a an 11"x 14"board. So far I have put in some of the sky with clouds and working my way down. Here it is so far. I wonder how much it will change..that's the fun part!

Check it out!

I found this on jackies blog!!!

Poem!

I got an email the other day that asked you to find out what the most popular song was on your birth date. I discovered mine was "swingin on a star", by bing crosby!
What fun! So I started thinkin and came up with the following little poem

The Perfect Day!
Skipping in the sunshine
and bouncing on the clouds.
Running with the wind
then dancing in the rain.
Hiding from the thunder
and jumping over rainbows.
Swinging on the stars
then dreaming on the moon.
Nitey-nite!

Now, I am going to do an illustration to go along with the poem.
I'll be back!!

Very special!
Capturing photographs ~picturing hope, laughter and the love of a family.
Professional photographers capture a child's journey, providing lasting memories for families diagnosed with potential life limiting illnesses. This is our way of giving back to families who have given so much to support the spirit and the fight in their child.
All portrait sessions are free of charge. This year we anticipate to complete over 750 portrait sessions through referrals from the six children's hospitals in California that we currently serve.
